ABOUT THE SCHOOL

“Shar” animation film school- studio was founded in 1993 by leading animators Fedor Khitruk, Eduard Nazarov, Yuri Norshtein, Andrei Khrzhanovsky with support of the State Committee for Cinematography of Russia.

The main activities of the school-studio are:

  • professional training of directors and animators;
  • production of animated films;
  • consultation of masters in all aspects of animation production.

The studio is focused on the production of copyright films, as well as films for children.

The teaching staff is represented by leading directors and animators with invaluable experience. Classes are taught by Andrei Khrzhanovsky, Alexey Demin, Ivan Maximov, Svetlana Filippova, Violetta Kolesnikova, Mikhail Tumelya, Elena Chernova, Vladimir Vyshegorodtsev, etc..

In 2018 SHAR School Studio celebrated its 25th anniversary. Over the years, a pleiad of young directors has been released into professional life and more than 80 films have been created.

Films of “SHAR” School-studio were repeatedly awarded with prizes of Russian and international festivals, and nominated for prestigious awards.

Most of alumni of “SHAR”  School-Studio are now famous animators, laureates of international and Russian festivals.

Over the years of its existence, the School-Studio “SHAR” has gained respect and authority among professionals and audiences around the world, as evidenced by numerous prizes and awards:

1998 – Special prize “Best Animation Studio” (13th International Film Festival in Zagreb)

2006 – Prize “Best Film School Program” (international festival “KROK”)

2013 – Special diploma “For the preservation of the school and the best traditions of Russian animation in the newest period of Russian history” (Open Russian festival of cinema in Suzdal)

2016 – Prize “The Best Film School Program” (XIII International Festival-Practice of Film Schools “FILM PRO”).
